Buenos Dias!

You are in the blog for the children’s short term mission trip to Honduras. Currently there are ten of us who are really excited about going to Honduras and having fun visiting three children shelters in the San Pedro Sula area. Our plans are to help paint one of the shelters and to do puppet shows and lots of singing and dancing with the children at all of the centers.

The center that we will be helping paint is called Amiguitos de Jesus. This center was built during the three years that I spent in Honduras as a missionary. It last saw paint in 2005 so it is time for a new coat!

The children that attend the three shelters are the poorest of the poor in Honduras. The shelters provide for them two meals and two snacks every day. They also get help with their homework. In addition they are shown a lot of love in a Christ center environment.

Our team wants to bring the love of Jesus to them. As one of our team members says “We want to love on them!” If you want to help us, please keep us in your prayers as we prepare for the trip. Also, right now, you could get a haircut and your payment for the haircut will be donated to fund our trip!!!

The fundraising event is called Haircuts for Honduras! If you want to help, call Connie Valladares and set up an appointment. Her number is 412-741-1217. Her shop is in Sewickley. Connie is a talented hairstylist. Her shop’s name is Vita: Hair for Life. Ask her how she came up with that name. She is a fun lady. I just got my hairs cut this morning and if I may say so I look pretty good! 

We hope to post some pictures in this blog of our process of growing as a team and preparing to go. We also hope to post pictures while in Honduras!
